They’re not meant to be taken literally.
Any more than, say, a James Bond movie is intended to depict effective conflict resolution. Or good driving practices. 🙂
Which most people understand, of course. But some people apparently for whatever reason read a BDSM story, or watch a BDSM movie, and imagine that somehow this is how BDSM is supposed to be done, or is done, by people who enjoy practicing BDSM safely and consensually in real life.
